Plos genetics editorial board

Over three years, PLoS Genetics has steadily added new Associate Editors to the Board, from 29 (in July 2005) to 59 at the time of writing. The current structure—with distinct groups of senior editors for the fields of epigenetics, evolution, natural variation, and gene expression, and a group for the remainder of submissions—continues to work well, with Continuing our PLOS Genetics’ editors series, Ortrun Mittelsten Scheid, a plant epigeneticist based at the Gregor Mendel Institute, Austria and member of the PLOS Genetics Editorial Board since 2015, explains her route into epigenetics research, reflects upon the field’s growth and wider applications, and discusses her support of Open Access publishing. PLOS Genetics publishes original contributions in genetics and genomics that reflect the full breadth, interdisciplinary nature and impact of these fields on science and medicine. The group includes four PLOS Board members who are themselves active researchers, two of our journals’ academic Editors-in-Chief, alongside researchers who are not formally associated with PLOS.
