Set-up includes unique x-ray optics for intense polychromatic X-ray beams. The project is funded in part by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation. Additional contributions have been received from the Arconic Foundation, as well as from Amgen Switzerland AG and the Ernest Solvay Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation. The P10 beamline is located at a low beta section and takes advantage of the extreme brightness of the PETRA III storage ring. Currently, the PETRA III synchrotron is operating at 100-120 mA in top-up mode.

Running in QP mode results in a loss of flux on the first harmonic which varies depending on the energy and polarization.

FMX delivers a flux of 3.5x10 12 ph/s at 1 Å wavelength into a 1x1.5 to 10x10 µm 2 (VxH) variable beam focus, covering an energy range from 5 - 30 keV. Its flux density surpasses current MX beamlines by up to two orders of magnitude.
